| The Lotus flowers are closely related to Buddhism practice. The Vimalakirti-Nirdesa sutra said “One must learn to be detached from this world like the lotus, and always practice benevolence”. The Compendious Elucidation of Various Sutras also said that “The Buddha of all universe came from the contaminated world, after 3 lives (pass, present and future), they achieve awakening and sit on the lotus throne”. As the lotus representing the pure and holy body of Buddha, it then become one of the importance element of the Buddhism culture, therefore, lotus are commonly find in the Buddhist temple such as the wall sculpture of the old India temple, and in China Tunhuang, Yunkang, Longmen caves.
These brightly hand painted lacquered ceiling boards are produced in China, according to our specific design. They are all exquisitely hand crafted and gilded, by China Artist, Mr Zheng Jian of You Shanguan, Shanghai.
